Happy Valentines Day!

Today is the day that almost every male I know dreads. Valentines Day– the commercial holiday to celebrate love and most importantly- the occasion to make your loved one feel special. Also known as the busiest day of the year for restaurants, Valentines Day causes the unprepared to panic– especially since it’s already near impossible to find reservations at most highly-rated restaurants in the DC area.

That’s why I would recommend cooking for your special someone if you have yet to make plans for today.  One of my favorite food blogs, Cook to Bang, has delicious recipes for seduction and romance. It also happens to be hysterical. As the blog says, “….everyone should COOK TO BANG because it’s…1. CHEAPER THAN A RESTAURANT 2. THEY’RE ALREADY IN YOUR HOME 3. YOU’RE DESSERT.” If that’s not brilliant I don’t know what is.

For a really easy meal, I would do a fondue. Go with a cheese fondue for the main course (you can even find premade ones at Costco or Amazon) and use bread, carrots, and bits of beef for dipping. For dessert, a chocolate fondue with strawberries, raspberries, and angel food cake. Polish the meal off with some nice wine for the main course (and even for the actual fondue- a dry white can really add flavor) and champagne for dessert.  Here are some additional tips for serving fondue.
