James Beard Nominations Are In!

It’s that time again, the James Beard award nominations are here! Yesterday, the foundation tweeted a convenient full list of all the nominees. Not surprisingly, many San Francisco restaurants and chefs were recognized in this year’s list. My old hometown had a few shout-outs as well!  According to the Chronicle,  last year’s nominee, Daniel Patterson (Coi) – was joined by first-timer Chris Cosentino (Incanto) for Best Chef Pacific. In the national Oustanding Chef category, Gary Danko of Restaurant Gary Danko earned a nomination. AQ was nominated in Best New Restaurant category and Flour + Water’s Thomas McNaughton and Mission Chinese Food‘s Danny Bowien received Rising Star Chef nominations. Boulevard received its eighth consecutive nomination for outstanding restaurant. San Francisco restaurants and chefs also racked up nominations in the outstanding service, best pastry chef, wine program, and bar program. My list of places to try just keeps growing (along with my excitement)!!

In DC, Fiola was nominated in the Best New Restaurant category and the Chefs Cathal Armstrong of Restaurant Eve, Johnny Monis of Komi, and Peter Pastan of Obelisk received nominations for Best Chef Mid-Atlantic. I was happy to see Cathal Armstrong on there and will be rooting for him in May! Winners will be announced on May 4 and 7.
